Refund Policy


The Refund Policy has changed for the 2024-25 season. Please ensure you review the updated policy.

Definitions

ACA / Freestyle Canada Fees / SNS - Non-refundable annual fee paid to Alpine Canada (ACA) and Ski Nova Scotia (SNS) for membership and general liability insurance. 
Annual Program Fee - The total cost to register an athlete in an annual race program offered by Martock Ski Racing Club (MSRC)) Program fees consist of fixed costs related to the day to day operating expenses of the Club (general maintenance, communication, accounting, banking, training aids, etc), Alpine Canada Dues, and program specific coaching fees and expenses.
Coaching Expenses - Funding provided to MSRC coaches who are attending a race event and/or camp to cover the costs for transportation, accommodations, lift tickets and meals.
Coaching Fees - Daily fees provided to MSRC coaches during the annual program and those who attend races and camps.
Event Registration Fees - Cost for MSRC to attend an event.  Costs are determined by the host organization.
MRSC Admin Fee - A $50 non-refundable potion of the total fee applied to all registrations (program, race and camp) in the event that a refund is requested. 
On-line Payment System Fee - Non-refundable charge applied to all registrations (program, race and camp) processed using the on-line payment system.


 

Seasonal Program Registration, Fees, and Refunds

Annual program fees are due before the first on-snow activities for the season. Where possible, an option to split the total program fee payments  into approximately equal monthly installments leading up to the beginning of on-snow activities will be made available to members. Any accounts in arrears from previous seasons must be paid in full prior to registration for the current season. Athletes with  accounts in arrears will not be permitted to participate in programs, events, and camps until the account balance is paid in full.

Exceptions for Injury or Serious Illness

For athletes that are injured or develop a severe illness during the program season and are unable to continue with the program, a pro-rated portion of the program fees (excluding Online System Fee and ACA Fee) may be refunded. An appropriate doctor’s certificate may be required. Pre-existing medical conditions do not qualify for refunds. These situations will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

Days Missed

Days missed are non-refundable. It is understood the unpredictability of the weather and varying conditions, are part of the sport of alpine skiing. No consideration or refund will be provided due to delays, cancellations or hill closures caused by weather or other special circumstances.

Refunds

Refunds will be issued at the end of the program season. The only exception to this is withdrawals from the program before the start of on-snow activities 


Camp and Race Registration, Fees and Refunds

Payment is due at the time of registration. Accounts in arrears must be in good standing before registering for a race or camp. Athletes with accounts in arrears will not be permitted to participate in camps or races until the account balance is paid in full.

  • If an event is cancelled by the club or the host facility prior to the event, refunds will be provided to all registered participants. Refunds will include the Camp/Race registration fee less any non-recoverable transactional fees incurred by the club (i.e. On-line Payment System Fee, Event Registration Fee etc.)

Camp/Race Injury

Athletes who are injured or have valid medical situation that occurs during the event and are unable to continue participating for the remaining days, not including the day of injury/medical situation, are entitled to a refund of the cost of the lift ticket (if included in the registration fees collected by MSRC and recoverable by MSRC) for each remaining days provided MSRC is able to recoup such as lift costs from the host facility. Coaching fees and expenses are non-refundable as commitments have been made to ensure an appropriate number of coaches were available based on the number of registered athletes.

Days Missed

Camp/Race days missed are non-refundable. It is understood the unpredictability of the weather and varying conditions, are part of the sport of alpine skiing. No consideration or refund will be provided due to delays, cancellations or hill closures caused by weather or other special circumstances. The exception is that refunds will be provided for any costs in which MSRC can recover from the event organizer or facility. MSRC will endeavour to reduce any associated athlete incurred costs related to cancellations.
